Rick Byrd was literally born to be a builder. He grew up in a family of residential contractors and his first memories as a kid include cleaning up job sites. He later attended the University of Oklahoma, where he earned a Master of Science degree in Construction Administration at Gibbs College of Architecture. 

An avid Sooner fan, Rick settled in Norman and began his career, starting with a 12-year tenure with Flintco, Inc., the 100-year-old, Oklahoma-based stalwart of the construction industry. At Flintco, Rick nurtured project management skills on jobs as large as the $45 million Oklahoma City Civic Center Music Hall renovation project. He and his wife, Dava, went on to establish Norman-based Byrd Building in 1998, and he rose in the ranks of the Central Oklahoma home building community, working with many of Norman’s most respected home builders. His mentors and colleagues have included Don Cies, Bus Eoff, Clark Heatherington, George Musgrave, Don Overton, Claudell Overton, Charles Epperson, Mike Barnett, John Tune, Bob Thompson, Jimmy Motie, Ben Graves and the late Ben Newcomer, past president of the Oklahoma Home Builders Association.

Dating back to his years at Flintco, Rick is accustomed to working with diverse groups of professionals, and he has a talent for managing building processes and contractors. He puts those skills to use each day as he builds luxury homes within exclusive neighborhoods across Central Oklahoma. His homes range from 2,500 to more than 12,000 square feet and feature timeless architectural designs. 

His dedication to quality construction is seasoned with tasteful creativity and an appreciation for the distinctive amenities that bring homes to life. Along with top-of-the-line appliances, custom-built cabinetry, foam insulation, and superior finishes, Rick builds beautiful outdoor entertainment areas, full-house basements, gymnasiums, golf simulator rooms, geothermal energy systems and the list goes on.

Born to build, Rick has loved construction all his life, and his greatest fulfillment comes from serving his clients and enriching lives through creation of unique, single-family homes that artfully blend luxury, value and comfort.
